A festive refreshment in the form of a reception (raut) takes place mainly at bigger functions during evening hours. Reception (raut) is suitable for groups over 30 people. The word raut comes from the English word rout, which means a group of 3 or more people. This social occasion has been designed so that a large number of guests can get together and make contacts.

The function usually starts with a welcome drink served from trays by the waiting staff on arrival.

The main consumption is arranged via a self-service buffet and drink tables. The food is eaten while standing. By the client’s special request it is possible to use another room where the guests can be seated.

In comparison to the banquet a reception-raut has got some advantages:

  • a wider selection of food and drinks available
  • a smaller number of waiting staff and reduced contact with the guests
  • a better chance for the guests to mingle
